Regenerating Love for Sports Key to Addressing Funding Challenges – Kofi Adams

Minister of Youth and Sports Designate, Kofi Iddie Adams, has emphasized the need to reignite passion for sports as a means of tackling the funding challenges facing the sector.

Speaking in an interview after attending the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) elections on January 23, Honourable Adams highlighted the importance of bringing more stakeholders on board to support sports development in Ghana.

Nominated by President John Mahama as Sports Minister Designate, Kofi Adams assumes this role at a challenging time when Ghana’s national men’s football team, the Black Stars, has failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“One of the major challenges in our sports is funding. We need to have discussions on how to address this issue. If we can regenerate the love for sports, I believe more people will be willing to come on board to help solve the funding problem,” Adams stated.

Honourable Kofi Adams is set to appear before Parliament’s vetting committee in the coming days.
