Pooley’s Stabbing: Court Eases Bail Conditions for Baffour Awuah, Grants Bail to Police Inspector

The Sunyani District Court ‘B’ has modified the bail conditions for Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, permitting him to travel outside the Sunyani Municipality.

While his passport remains in the custody of the court, the requirement for him to report to the police has been reduced from daily to weekly.

Presided over by Mr. Eric Daning, the court also granted bail of GH¢300,000 to Police Inspector Duah Owusu Agyemang, aged 42, who has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Francis Fimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

Inspector Duah, who previously served as the bodyguard of Mr. Baffour Awuah, is required to surrender his passport to the court within three days and report to the nearest police station as part of his bail conditions.

Mr. Baffour Awuah, Inspector Duah, Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwaa, and Yaa Asantewaa remain on bail, facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder under Sections 23(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29).

The case has been adjourned, and the accused are expected to reappear in court on March 10, 2025.

In a related development, three other suspects—Isaac Fosu, Yeboah Augustine, and Yaw Koshy—were denied bail and will remain in police custody until their next court hearing on March 3, 2025.

Additionally, one suspect, identified as Brimah, is still at large.

The proceedings were closely monitored by Lawyer Samuel Safo Duku, Communications Director for Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, who was present in court.
